Following her graduation from high school Contractor was awarded a scholarship by The University of Toronto to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. Additionally, she earned a master's degree in Theater. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following her one year stay in University. She was a part of the audition for the role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian critics praised her performance in 92 productions of the play. The conservatory at Stratford is home to eight males, four women as well as a few additional people to take a 20 week crash course. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season and was given the role as Hermia.
